Who we are

Bad Penny was founded in June of 2023 because we like pinball. At the time, the Twin Cities needed another pinball arcade on the other side of the river. We were happy to get started in Saint Paul.

That summer we joined forces with Minnesota’s biggest classic retro video game arcade, Starcade and moved in to the historic Keg and Case Market building on West 7th at the old Schmidt brewery.

We started with 26 pinball machines crammed in to the middle of a sleepy dying market. Over a year later, the market is even more empty, and we are up to over 60 pins! The biggest pinball arcade in Minnesota.

The space is quiet and tranquil, echo-y, except for the sounds of flippers and call outs. There’s plenty of space to move around, it’s brightly lit, and you can actually hear the theme of the games. We have off street parking and there’s food and pubs in walking distance.

We are in the same building with our friends, Starcade. They are the biggest classic retro arcade in Minnesota, with 200 fully original cabinets from the 80’s and 90’s. They also have a collection of Japanese candy cabs and rhythm games like Dance Dance Revolution DDR, Groove Coaster, Mai Mai, and Chunithm.

As of November 2024 we have 62 pinballs!
